Description of Grace

Grace Church, in Hudson, MA, is a growing community of people from a wide variety of backgrounds who seek to know and follow Jesus. About 1000 people from over a dozen towns in the region worship with us. We are a community that helps people know and follow Jesus. Description of Grace Kids

Grace Kids serves children and their families from birth to Grade 5. Through two services on Sunday mornings approximately 40 volunteer leaders serve about 100 children. The purpose of Grace Kids is to build community among children and their families and help them know and follow Jesus. Among other things this includes:

  • Providing a safe, welcoming environment for children to be exposed to the love of God and the gospel,
  • Helping to equip parents to disciple their children,
  • Journeying with families through their spiritual growth,
  • Build and equip a team of volunteers to minister to children and their families.

Status:            Full-time salaried
Hours:            40 hours +, per week

Pastoral Oversight

  • Be a role model. Connect with children and their parents and let them see the evidence of your walk with Jesus.
  • Work with the Director of Family Ministries to determine strategy, curriculum and programs to help children and their parents know and follow Jesus.
  • Take responsibility for carrying out the strategy for families with children from birth to Grade 5.


  • Use personal experience and understanding of children ministry trends, and sound judgment, and insights from key volunteers to develop a coherent plan to grow Children Ministry and help children and their families know and follow Jesus.
  • Participate with the Grace Ministry Team to develop strategies for the church to accomplish its mission. Develop strategies with other ministry leaders to encourage student involvement and leadership across ministries of the church.
  • Advocate for children in the context of what is necessary for them to know and follow Jesus as well as what is good for Grace. Help educate Grace leaders and congregation about the hopes, concerns and needs of children in the local church and community.
  • Evaluate how children are growing in community and in knowing and following Jesus and adjust strategies as needed.


  • Ensure child safety guidelines are in place and operating.
  • Recruit, train and develop a team of passionate adult and student leaders to lead Sunday morning, midweek and summer programming.
  • Ensure classrooms are adequately staffed according to child-care policy guidelines.
  • Recruit and develop a team to run summer VBS.
  • Develop attractive and compelling environments which children love to attend and to which they can invite their non-Christian friends.
  • Select curriculum. Procure required resources. Train teachers.
  • Communicate with parents regarding plans and objectives for children so they can support the ministry.
  • Communicate with parents, leaders, church staff, etc.
  • Maintain records of volunteer team and children participation and engagement.
  • Develop an annual children ministry plan and related budget. Manage the budget.
  • Monitor everyday activities and ensure effectiveness of all programs.
  • Ensure that Child Protection Policy is observed in all student ministry settings.
  • Other duties as required.
