Second Saturday
is a Love in Action Program. Love in Action is the community service initiative of Grace Hudson. Presently, 'LiA' has three
main programs: Angel Food,
Second Saturday, and The Totally Free Garage Sale.
Second Saturday is a monthly event
for people willing to serve in the local community on the
2nd Saturday of every month from 8:30 am - noon.
There are service opportunities
for individuals, families, and small groups. There are
activities planned for all ages and all physical abilities.
Teams of volunteers go to sites in the area where helping
hands can make a
difference to those who need us.
We will serve ...
People with practical needs
Moving furniture, yardwork, home repairs, cleaning, driving, or
a fresh coat of paint
Partner organizations
Hudson Food Pantry, a soup kitchen, Senior Housing, Furnishing
Options, Compassion Pregnancy, Christopher Heights (assisted
living), and others.
There is something for everyone!
On Campus
Cooking, card-making, knit and crochet, check phone recording during the week for status of this project)
Off-Campus
Painting, carpentry, singing, encouraging, food-pantry stocking, cleaning, furniture moving, and more.
Wear your Love in Action shirt! Free shirts are available for those who need them, and bring your work gloves.
Please meet us in the Hospitality Room at 8:30 a.m. All events are finished by noon. Any person, young or old, may serve the community with us for 3 hours between 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM.

How does it work?
Second Saturday starts at Grace Baptist Church at 353 River
Road in Hudson at 8:30 am on the 2nd Saturday of each month.
After a brief description of the possible projects for the
day, volunteers choose the project they want to work on and
spread out to serve. Teams arrive back at the church by
noon.
Who may participate?
All ages, anyone from the community.
Must I sign up in advance?
Not necessary, but appreciated if you are bringing a group.
What should I bring?
Your energy, a willing attitude to serve, and a smile. Tools
and materials will be provided for you. You may choose to
bring work gloves or your favorite tools, depending on the
work project.
How will I get to the work site?
Church vans or car pool. You may be asked to drive your car
to the site, and may be asked to take on passengers.
Can I plan the rest of my Saturday?
What time are we really done? We guarantee that you will be
finished by noon.
What kinds of projects may I do?
Projects may include food preparation, painting, offering
encouragement, writing letters or other office work, crafts,
guiding children, supporting troops overseas, light
construction, or yard work.
How many people will I be working with?
The events will be designed for 5-25 people, and some will
accommodate more people.
How many projects will I have to choose from?
At least two, and probably three or more. The number of
projects each month will increase as participation
increases.
Are all projects child-friendly?
Every Second Saturday will have at least one child-friendly
service project, but some projects may be suitable for teens
and adults, only.
Will childcare be available?
No. Children are expected to work with their parents, or
just be with their parents as they work.
Will I be expected to show up every month?
Future participation is your choice. You may come every
time, or just once in awhile.
Can I invite a friend?
Yes, not only can you invite a friend, we encourage you to
do just that.
